Summary:
The benefits of cloud analytics are enormous, empowering organizations to deliver insights faster than ever before while also reducing costs. Despite the strong upside, the migration of analytics workloads to the cloud has slowed – the result of an increasingly complex landscape of regulations intended to protect the privacy of data subjects. This has exposed data teams to new levels of risk when managing sensitive data and has resulted in a fear of litigation for violating regulations like GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA or a variety of rules such as employment laws, third party data use contracts, SOC-2 compliance, and others.
These pressures are daunting, but they don’t have to be. New architectural requirements are emerging in the personal data era that can safely scale data access for analytics in the cloud, while reducing legal and ethical risks.

Sumit Sarkar is a technology researcher, thought leader, and speaker currently leading Product Marketing at Immuta. Sumit has over 10 years of experience working in the data access infrastructure field enabling data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and app developers. An in-demand speaker, Sumit has presented on these topics and more live on stage at over 20 conferences and industry events including Dreamforce, Oracle OpenWorld, MongoDB World, and Strata+Hadoop World.
Steve Touw – CTO and Co-Founder
Steve Touw is the co-founder and CTO of Immuta. He has a long history of designing large-scale geo-temporal analytics across the U.S. intelligence community – including some of the very first Hadoop analytics and frameworks to manage complex multi-tenant data policy controls. Previously, Steve was the CTO of 42Six Solutions (acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation), where he led a large Big Data services engineering team. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Maryland.
Matt DiAntonio – VP, Product Management
Product Management leader who loves all stages of product work and believes good product leaders go deep, roll up their sleeves and get involved. He is an experienced team builder and leader as well as coach, motivator, and talent developer at all career stages. Before joining Immuta as VP of Product Management, he worked in product management leadership roles at Toast, DraftKings and Carbonite.
