Topic:

Accelerated Analytics & Data Science Fit for Purpose: Scaling up & Out

Summary:

OmniSci has demonstrated the massive scaling possible using GPUs and CPUs for computation and visualization. Modern processing capabilities have opened up a whole new era of accelerated analytics at massive scale. While not every analytics problem requires massive scale, all users need tools that are properly sized for problems throughout their enterprise. This presentation will outline how OmniSci can visualize and query billions of rows of data on a single data science workstation or at a larger scale in our enterprise edition for servers on premises or in the cloud.

OmniSci experts will deep dive into our accelerated analytics platform to demonstrate industry specific use cases and demos, show how to deploy Jupyter notebooks with OmniSci, and how OmniSci makes analytics instant, powerful and effortless for everyone.

Presenter(s):

David Besemer – VP of Engineering

David Besner comes from Cisco Systems where he was Chief Technology Officer for Data Virtualization, a position created through Cisco’s acquisition of Composite Software in 2013. Composite Software pioneered data virtualization, helping complex companies seamlessly leverage data from across the enterprise. In his time at Composite Software, as VP of Engineering and then CTO, he oversaw the engineering team that built the award-winning Composite Information Server; led product strategy, and evangelized the benefits of data virtualization to the market. Prior to his time at Composite Software, Besemer served as a principal of two software consulting firms that served major enterprises, including The Walt Disney Company and Apple Computer. He also founded and sold the online company Cognitio Products, and served in software management and/or engineering positions with NeXT Computer, Kidder-Peabody & Company, and General Electric.

Venkat Krishnamurthy – VP of Product

Venkat heads up Product Management at OmniSci. He joined OmniSci from the CTO office at Cray, the supercomputing pioneer, where he was responsible for leading Cray’s push into Analytics and AI. Earlier, he was Senior Director at YarcData, a pioneering graph analytics startup, where he bootstrapped product and data science/engineering teams. Prior to YarcData, he was a Director of Product Management at Oracle, where he led the launch of the Oracle Financial Services Data Platform, and earlier spent several years at Goldman Sachs, where he led one of the earliest successful projects utilizing machine learning in Operational Risk incident classification. Venkat is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and the Indian Institute of Technology Chennai, and also a certified Financial Risk Manager.

Rachel Wang – Director of Product Management

Rachel is a Director of Product Management at OmniSci, where she heads product management for Immerse, OmniSci’s interactive data visualization product. Prior to this role, Rachel worked on initiatives touching billions of users as part of Facebook’s Core Growth team. She first discovered the power of using data analytics to drive business decisions as an engagement manager at Applied Predictive Technologies (acquired by Mastercard in 2015). She holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.

Company Profile:

OmniSci (formerly MapD) is the pioneer in accelerated analytics, redefining speed and scale in big data querying and visualization. The OmniSci platform is used to find insights in data beyond the limits of mainstream analytics tools. Harnessing the massive parallel computing power of GPUs and CPUs, the platform is available in the cloud and on-premise. OmniSci originated from research at Harvard and MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
