Topic:

Big Data Analytics in R

Summary:

Getting value out of big data with analytics can be tough, and challenges the status quo of many tools and infrastructures. As the R language gains adoption, Revolution is committed driving its adoption deeper into the enterprise, and this means into the emerging big data landscape. In this presentation, we’ll update the BBBT on our progress and that of some of our users who have used R to extract analytical value form their big data assets.

Presenter(s):

Bill Jacobs, VP, Product Marketing

Bill Jacobs is Revolution Analytics’ VP of Product Marketing. Bill brings a rich perspective on Big Data Analytics developed over the past ten years working for companies including IBM/Netezza and Pivotal, and has helped users pioneer Big Data analytics for telecom, financial services, health and life sciences, retail, manufacturing and insurance companies.

At Revolution Analytics, Bill manages Revolution’s efforts to converge the simplicity of R analytics with the capacity of Hadoop and MPP EDWs. Bill helps users identify opportunities to improve business outcomes using big data analytics by applying Revolution Analytics’ streamlined approach to modeling, development and integration of Big Data analytics.

Most recently, Bill helped Revolution Analytics to launch the latest revision of Revolution R Enterprise adding groundbreaking support for in-database in-Teradata and in-Hadoop analytics that provide scale heretofore unavailable to users of R.

An avid commercial pilot, airplane restorer and outdoorsman, Bill resides in Denver, Colorado with his family and can be found on Twitter at @bill_jacobs.
