Vitria Operational Intelligence: Unleashing the Power of Streaming Data Analytics
Summary:
Dr. Dale Skeen will lead a discussion that highlights how some of the most innovative companies are using real-time Operational Intelligence solutions to enrich their customers’ experience, increase operational efficiency, and proactively curb fraud. Dr. Skeen will discuss three case studies: (1) how a large telecom can now continuously analyze a vast sea of operational and customer data to ensure the best service to its customers; (2) how a major restaurant chain has complete visibility into its supply chain processes and can predict and prevent stock outs easily; (3) how a financial services powerhouse “discovered” actual business patterns from streaming data and can proactively monitor financial transactions in real-time to immediately detect and prevent fraudulent behavior.
Dave McPherson and Rajiv Onat will then delve into the inner workings of Vitria Operational Intelligence and provide the audience with a live demonstration of the solution. The Vitria team will also provide participants with a sneak-peek into what’s cooking in the Vitria Operational Intelligence development labs.

Dale Skeen – CTO & Co-Founder, Vitria
Dr. Dale Skeen co-founded Vitria with Dr. JoMei Chang in 1994 and oversees the technology direction of the company. Dr. Skeen is credited with inventing distributed publish-subscribe communication, with over a dozen patents in this and other related technologies. Dr. Skeen has more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale computing systems in the areas of distributed computing and database systems. Dr. Skeen is the recognized industry visionary for creating and developing Business Process Integration and Real-Time Business Process Analysis, two of the innovative foundations for Vitria’s solutions.
Dr. Skeen is also a prolific author, having contributed to 10 books and written numerous journal articles on distributed computing and integration technologies. Prior to co-founding Vitria, Dr. Skeen was the co-founder of TIBCO Software, where he served as the Chief Scientist. Dr. Skeen has held faculty positions at the University of California, Berkeley as well as Cornell University.
Dr. Skeen has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Rajiv Onat is Director of Product Management at Vitria Technology, Inc.
