StreamSets built the industry’s first multi-cloud DataOps platform for modern data integration, helping enterprises to continuously flow big, streaming and traditional data to their data scientists and data-intensive applications. It uniquely handles data drift, those frequent and unexpected changes to data that break pipelines and damage data integrity. The platform combines the open source StreamSets Data Collector for execution of any-to-any pipelines (the data plane) with a cloud-native StreamSets Control Hub™ for the design, monitoring and performance management of multi-pipeline topologies (the control plane). Founded in 2014 by Girish Pancha, former chief product officer of Informatica, and Arvind Prabhakar, a former engineering leader at Informatica and Cloudera, StreamSets is backed by top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital firms, including Battery Ventures, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Accel Partners, Harmony Partners, and Tenaya Capital.

Answer important business questions in less time with more data by breaking data silos
Summary:
Enterprises are continually striving to become data driven and are now looking to make decisions based on the massive amount of data available within and outside the organization. But with most data locked in disparate silos, many enterprises end up using only the data most familiar or convenient, limiting the number and value of the questions they can answer. Others, overwhelmed by Big Data buzzwords and flavor-of-the-month technologies, overspend in the wrong solutions and undercut their ROI.
In this presentation we will cover an alternative approach to analytics that combines human expertise and machine learning — and learn how best-in-class analytics groups like GE, Toyota, and Thomson Reuters are using it to answer business questions faster, using more data, and with greater repeatability.

Topic:
Innovation and Disruption at Teradata
Summary:
So much has changed at Teradata that we felt the BBBT members needed an update. Analysts and bloggers are starting to say Teradata is disrupting itself, so what are they pointing at? In this session, we’ll go through some of the key areas where Teradata is reinventing itself under two main strategy areas: the Sentient Enterprise and Unified Data Architecture. Next, we’ll dive into a few product-specific areas of advancement:
The new IntelliFlex hardware architecture: No feeds and speeds (well, maybe a smidgen). This is true innovation. Surprises start here.
Teradata running on Amazon Web Services: There are plenty of data marts in the cloud. Now, there is a real data warehouse in the cloud. And different clouds.
Teradata’s open source strategy: Facebook’s SQL-on-Hadoop called Presto. Included will be the Presto development roadmap. There’s surprises in there too. We’ll review a 100% a vendor neutral SQL-on-Hadoop benchmark. The results are clear and staggering in spots.
Teradata’s progress with the Internet of Things: First we address ‘What is the Analytics of Things.’ We discuss edge computing. And of course, Teradata customers success and some IoT products and services.
Presenter(s):
Dan Graham – Director of Technical Marketing
Mr. Graham started as a field engineer and systems programmer with UNIVAC in 1971. In the 1980s, he was AVP of Database Administration at California Federal Savings and Loan. He then joined Teradata Corporation as Sr Marketing Manager of the DBC/1012 parallel database computer. He joined IBM in 1993 to lead a product planning group designing the RS/6000 Scalable Parallel system. In 1995, Mr. Graham was named Strategy and Operations Executive within IBM’s Global Business Intelligence Solutions unit where he developed competitive programs and established the $75 million IBM Teraplex Centers. He later developed strategic plans for WebSphere Portal and DB2. Rejoining Teradata, Dan became Teradata’s Enterprise Systems General Manager responsible for the Active Data Warehouse 6680, 6690, and 6700 platforms – Teradata’s SSD based high end appliances. He now focuses on technical marketing of the Internet of Things – because it’s fun.
